This backpack is an advanced project. It utilizes many more parts and pieces than our other pack patterns. The pack requires the use of an internal frame which is made from aluminum and plastic. While the sewing itself is straightforward, the number of parts and steps make it a good option for those who have previous experience in making backpacks.
DESCRIPTION:
Some adventures require more gear than others. The Stitchback "Expedition 60" or EX60 was designed with this in mind. A volume of approximately 60 liters makes it well suited for longer or more gear intensive trips
The EX60 is our most fully featured backpacking pack. It features zippered access to the main compartment in addition to the drawstring opening. Several pockets help with organization, including side bottle pockets, and a lid pocket as well as a removable front pocket that can be converted into a daypack.
The EX60 utilizes a more robust frame and suspension than our other backpacks making it better suited to heavier loads. The frame consists of 2 aluminum flat bar stays and a plastic frame sheet. The stays connect directly to the hipbelt for good load transfer. The shoulder harness has an adjustable torso length and includes the option for men's or women's shoulder straps. The hipbelt is more robust than the hipbelt on our other backpacking packs, and utilizes 2 densities of foam for increased comfort when carrying heavy loads. The pattern includes a men's and women's hipbelt in 3 different sizes.
The pack as shown in the photos, weighs 70 oz. Including the aluminum stays and frame sheet which are required for this pack. The final weight of the pack can vary based on the types of fabrics and hardware used, so this weight is given as a reference only.
